We invite you to take part in one of Aiken’s most historic events.
Due to the extremely fragile footing, schooling will not be allowed in the ring. Hand-walking will be allowed from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. daily. Schooling fences will be provided in the designated schooling area. Classes and divisions may be split, combined, or cancelled at the discretion of the management.
An entry’s eligibility will be at the discretion of the rules and regulations delegates or the show directors.
The Hitchcock Woods Foundation and the Show Directors will not be responsible for any accident that may occur to any animal, person, or property, and the exhibitor shall hold the Hitchcock Woods Foundation and the Show Directors harmless and indemnify them against any legal proceedings arising from any such accident.
Under South Carolina law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from an inherent risk of equine activity pursuant to Article 7, Chapter 9 of Title 47, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976.
If you have never shown in the Aiken Horse Show in Hitchcock Woods and would like help with logistics, course expectations, etc., as well as tips to make your experience more enjoyable for you and your horse, please call Dana Massey at 803-599-0400. Carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking.
Trailer parking will be available at the Stable on the Woods parking lot, 2200 Dibble Rd., the “Wavy Wall” on South Boundary Avenue below the museum, and the Green Boundary field. Water will be provided at the ring for your horse. Please bring your own bucket.
Exhibitors who donate their prize money back to the Foundation, will be acknowledged with an IRS tax letter from the Foundation office. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Fences approximately 2’6-2’9 or 3’-3’3. Open to all horses and ponies placing 1st-6th in over-fences classes 52 and 53.
Foxhunters, Junior Foxhunters, Junior Hilltoppers, and Hilltoppers must have a letter of qualification from the Master of their hunt.
The letter must state that the horse and rider combination has been out hunting three times this season in comparable flights.

Points will be tabulated as follows:
Divisions with 3 or more entries are eligible for Champion and Reserve Champion awards.
Points for the top 4 riders over fences will be combined with their Under Saddle points. The rider with the most points will be awarded the Championship, with the second highest winner receiving the Reserve Championship.
In the event of a tie, the rider with the most points over fences will receive the Championship.
Aiken Saddlery Grand Champion of the Day: Awarded to the Horse/Rider combination with the highest number of points in a single, three-class division that includes over fences classes. In the event of a tie, the rider with the most points over fences will receive the championship.
Hunter OTTB High Point: Awarded to the OTTB with the most points for the day.
Foxhunter OTTB High Point: Awarded to the OTTB with the most points for the day.
Leading Open Rider: Rider with the most points in the Open Division.
Leading Amateur Rider: Rider with the most points in the Amateur Division.
Future Hunter Classic: The rider’s second course score and classic score will be added together for placing. Classic Class points do not count toward Future Hunter Championships.
In all divisions, judging will follow USEF Guidelines, where applicable.

Fences around 2’6”-2’9” or around 3’-3’3”. Open to all horses and ponies ridden by an Amateur 18 years and older.

Open to all horses and ponies, judged on suitability and way of going. Rider and Horse combination may not cross enter with any classes over fences higher than 2’.

Open to all Future Hunters. A Handy Style course. Scores will be added from Rider’s second over fence course to the Classic Course for a Classic Score.
Open to children 7 years and under. Helmets required.
Open to members of the same extended family, Walk, Trot. Helmets required.
Open to all riders participating in a therapeutic riding program. Walk, Trot. Leaders and Side Walkers are permitted.

Fences around 2’6”-2’9” and 3’-3’3”. Open to all qualified (completed 3 hunts this season in a jumping flight) junior foxhunters 17 years and under. To be judged on way of going, brilliance, and suitability for a junior rider. May be asked to gallop, hold hard, dismount and/or lead over a fence. May not cross enter into Hilltopper Division.
Fences around 3’-3’3”. Open to all qualified (completed 3 hunts this season in a jumping flight) foxhunters 18 years and older. To be judged on way of going, brilliance, and suitability for rider. May be asked to gallop, hold hard, dismount and/or lead over a fence. Riders must jump the high side of fences.
Fences around 2’6”-2’9” and 3’-3’3”. Open to all qualified Junior and Senior Foxhunters. Qualified horse and rider combination may participate in only one pair and/or team. Judged on performance, suitability, manners and uniformity.
Open to all horses and ponies ridden by ladies of any age. Walk, Trot, Canter and Over Fences (no higher than 2’6”). To be judged on way of going and suitability. Formal hunt appointments will be judged 25% in the Under Saddle. Performance under saddle and over fences will be judged 50/50 in Hunter Hack.
